Johnson man arrested in connection with stolen fishing supplies

STAFFORDSVILLE, Ky. — A Johnson County man has been arrested in connection with the theft of thousands of dollars worth of fishing equipment.

The theft was reported to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, and officers received an anonymous tip that the stolen items could be found at the home of Elbert Williamson Jr., 54, of Staffordsville.

When a deputy went to Williamson’s home and immediately spotted him a marine battery and battery charger matching the description of some of the stolen items.

Williamson reportedly told the deputy he had bought them for $20 each. After the deputy told him they were likely stolen, he turned them over, then gave the officer more items that had been stolen.

In total, $3,500 worth of stolen items were recovered and returned to the owner.

Williamson was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property.

The sheriff’s office says more suspects in the incident are under investigation.
