META, Ky. — A Tuesday night crash in Pike County has left two women dead.

According to Kentucky State Police, Vergena Fields, 31, of Phelps, was driving a 2019 Jeep Renegade just after 8 p.m., when the crash occurred. Police say Fields was taking the exit from Route 194 onto U.S. 119 at Meta, when she collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer.

Fields and her mother, 60-year-old Dottie Fields, died at the scene.

Police continue to investigate the crash.

KSP was assisted by Commercial Vehicle Enforcement officers, Kimper and Coal Run fire departments, Lifeguard Ambulance Service and the Pike County Coroner’s Office.
