PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — A Johnson County man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, following his guilty plea to a federal drug charge.

Edward Carl Ramey, 46, of Paintsville, pleaded guilty back in January to a single count of possession of more than 500 grams of meth with the intent to distribute.
According to court records, the Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement Special Investigations unit received information last June that Ramey had a large quantity of meth in his possession, so they sent and undercover witness to his home to buy more than an ounce of the drug for $500. The next day, police raided his home, seizing more than a pound and a half of meth and nearly all of the money used in the undercover buy.
Ramey had been indicted on charges of distributing meth and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The government agreed to dismiss those charges in exchange for his guilty plea.
Last week, a federal judge sentenced him to 120 months in prison.
