PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — A Johnson County woman is in jail on a felony assault charge, after allegedly attacking her cousin with a knife Saturday night.
Police spoke with the victim, who told them he stopped to see his cousin — identified as Sheila Wells, 49, of Paintsville — and the two shared a six-pack of Bud Light. When he got up to leave, he said she stabbed him in the throat and shoulder with a large kitchen knife.
When the officer spoke to Wells, she admitted cutting him and said she did it because he was establishing dominance over her by visiting and leaving whenever he wanted. However, she also told police he wasn’t violent and didn’t threaten her.
Wells was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, which is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
