BIG STONE GAP, Va. — A southwestern Virginia man has pleaded guilty to distributing meth and possessing a firearm despite a previous felony conviction.
Daniel Shane Carter, 37, admitted in court to distributing more than 50 grams of meth, as well as possessing a 9 millimeter pistol and 20 rounds of ammunition.
Carter was arrested back in July when he and another person returned to Virginia after picking up 84 grams of meth from a motel room in Kingsport, Tennessee. What he didn’t know at the time was the person traveling with him was a police informant.
Carter will return to court Feb. 25 for sentencing.
