PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — A Johnson County woman is in jail, charged with murder, following after two people were stabbed Tuesday night.

Deputies were called to a home on Hyden Branch, after Marsha Bailey reported that Kristie Blair, 47, of Oil Springs, had attacked her and Bernadetta Blackburn with a knife. Bailey further said that she and Blackburn had gotten the knife away from Blair and were restraining her.

When deputies arrived, they found Blackburn lying in the floor with several stab wounds, including two around her neck and throat. Blackburn was unable to speak and was having difficulty breathing. She later died at the hospital.

Bailey had also been stabbed, in the jaw and arm.

Bailey told deputies that Blair had gone to the bathroom and Blackburn went to tell her that her TV show was coming back on, when the attack began. The women fought from the bathroom to the living room, where Blair was finally restrained.

Blair reportedly told a doctor Blackburn tried to hit her when she came to the bathroom, so she grabbed a knife and began stabbing her.

Blair is now charged with murder and first-degree assault.
