ABINGDON, Va. — A federal jury in Abingdon has found a Virginia man not guilty of threatening Senator Mark Warner.

Allen Cedric Taylor was charged back in February with threatening to assault and murder a federal official. The charge stemmed from a call Taylor placed to Warner’s office in January, during which he reportedly praised the rioters who stormed the Capitol and told an office staffer that Warner should “watch out” if he supported the second impeachment of former President Trump.

There were no recordings of the call, and the only evidence presented by the government was notes taken by the staffer who took the call, as well as her testimony.

It only took the jury 33 minutes to return with the acquittal.
