Knott man indicted on gun charges

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Knott County man is facing up to 10 years in prison, after being indicted on gun charges.

Steven Cross, 38, of Pippa Passes, is charged two counts of felon in possession of a firearm, after he was allegedly found with a sawn-off 12-gauge shotgun and .22 caliber pistol.

Cross was convicted of receiving stolen property, assaulting an officer and other charges in 2017, as well as fourth-offense DUI in a separate case.

Cross also faces a charge of possessing an unregistered firearm for the shotgun.

He is expected to make his first appearance in federal court on Wednesday.
