PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Letcher County man potentially faces decades in prison, after being indicted on federal drug charges.
Mark Wayne Adams, 54, of Whitesburg, was indicted on a charge of conspiracy to distribute oxycodone last month, but was only arrested this week.
The indictment accuses him of distributing oxycodone pills for nearly five years, from January of 2018 to December of 2022.
The charge normally carries a potential sentence of 20 years in prison, but that can be enhanced to 30 years for defendants with felony drug convictions. Adams was previously convicted of trafficking in meth, marijuana and other drugs in 2018 and of single counts of drug trafficking in two separate cases in 2011.
He is scheduled to appear in court next week for arraignment.
