PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Letcher County man currently imprisoned after pleading guilty to charges in a pair of cases could see his sentence grow even longer, after pleading guilty to a gun charge.

Jeffrey Heath Hampton, 45, of Millstone, is currently serving 12 years after pleading guilty to a number of charges, including meth trafficking, possession of a destructive device, wanton endangerment and more.

He was originally given a suspended sentence, but he was ordered to serve his time in prison following a probation violation. When he was arrested for the violation, however, police found a shotgun in his possession, despite his previous felony conviction.

He was charged with felon in possession of a firearm in federal court, and he pleaded guilty to the charge in May.

On Monday, he was sentenced to 65 months in prison, which will begin when he reaches parole eligibility in May 2025. He is currently being held in the Pike County Detention Center.
