Grand jury indicts six inmates for attack on Wallens Ridge guards

WISE, Va. — Six inmates at Wallens Ridge State Prison have been indicted on a combined 66 felony charges for the May 2 stabbing and assault of three corrections officers.

Prosecutors say two officers were stabbed multiple times, while a third was assaulted during the attack, which involved gang-affiliated inmates.

The indictments include:

  • Melvin Edgardo Molina-Ramos, 28; two counts attempted aggravated murder, two counts malicious wounding by mob, gang participation, two counts bodily injury by prisoner, two counts aggravated malicious wounding, three counts conspiracy to commit aggravated malicious wounding, and possession of illegal weapon by prisoner
  • Jeremiah Larenz Mouzon, 26; three counts attempted aggravated murder, three counts malicious wounding by mob, gang participation, three counts bodily injury by prisoner, three counts aggravated malicious wounding, three counts conspiracy to commit aggravated malicious wounding, possession of illegal weapon by prisoner.
  • Moises Alejandro Alfaro Olivia, 41; gang participation, malicious wounding by mob, two counts bodily injury by prisoner, aggravated malicious wounding, three counts conspiracy to commit aggravated malicious wounding.
  • Armando Dagobert Reyes Reyes, 33; gang participation, malicious wounding by mob, bodily injury by prisoner, aggravated malicious wounding, and three counts conspiracy to commit aggravated malicious wounding.
  • Christian Rene Reyes-Coreas, 30; gang participation, two counts malicious wounding by mob, two counts bodily injury by prisoner, and three counts conspiracy to commit aggravated malicious wounding.
  • Kevin Josue Soto-Bonilla, 28; two counts attempted aggravated murder, two counts malicious wounding by mob, gang participation, two counts bodily injury by prisoner, two counts aggravated malicious wounding, three counts conspiracy to commit aggravated malicious wounding and possession of illegal weapon by prisoner.

Wise County Commonwealth’s Attorney Brett Hall said the indictments are the first step toward justice for the officers, who are continuing to recover.

“Our corrections officers have an incredibly difficult job,” Hall said. “I am thankful the corrections officers who were attacked in this incident continue to heal daily. I commend those who heroically intervened to save the lives of their fellow officers, who rushed to aid their fellow officers in the face of personal danger. Today’s indictments begin the process to seek justice on behalf of the Department of Corrections officers injured in the line of duty and all those affected by this incident. We are grateful for the important work DOC officers and personnel do for our community.”
