A man wanted in a January shooting in Letcher County was captured earlier this month.
45-year-old Eddie Dewayne Collins, was arrested in Neon after he was spotted walking along a roadway by Letcher County Constable and Deputy Jailer Luther Tackett. Tackett said Collins dove into the creek in an attempt to escape, but surrendered to he and Neon Police Chief Mike Dingus.
Collins was arrested without incident and lodged in the Letcher County Jail. Tackett said Collins was booked in on several charges, including an attempted murder charge filed in relation to the January 3rd shooting of a man in the Isom area of Letcher County.
Tackett told EKB News that Collins stated he had been living in the woods and had been using methamphetamine at the time he was arrested. Tackett also said Collins stated it was “time to stop running.”
