Man arrested for DUI with children in car

dui_5Floyd County, Ky.–It began when Kentucky State Police received a call from a man saying he had hydroplaned and wrecked his car on KY 979 in the Grethel community.

When officers arrived they suspected the driver, 31-year old Donald Joe Dye of Mcdowell, was under the influence. Dye was then given a field sobriety test, which he failed.

Dye allegedly told officers he is a patient at a Methadone clinic in Pike County and only takes the medication he is prescribed.

Three children were reportedly in the vehicle when the accident occurred.

Dye was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless driving, endangering the welfare of a minor and several other traffic violations. He pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentence to 11-days in jail.
