Man arrested for running from police for second time this month

PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — A Johnson County man has been arrested after fleeing from police for the second time this month.

It began Wednesday when a deputy spotted a white Toyota RAV-4 driven by 33-year-old Jonathan Dale leaving Woodland Court Apartments with the passenger door wide open. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but it sped away instead.

Dale reportedly drove to Number One Hollow in Van Lear, where he pulled over, jumped out and ran away. Johnson County deputies were assisted by Paintsville Police, a Johnson County constable and a Floyd County K-9 unit but were unsuccessful in locating Dale.

He was arrested later that day and charged with fleeing police, wanton endangerment, unlawful imprisonment and other charges.

Dale was arrested earlier this month when he allegedly ran away after a deputy stopped to talk to him. Police say when he was caught that time, he told them he ran because he thought there was a warrant for his arrest, but that turned out not to be the case.

That case remains pending.
