PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — A Morgan County man was arrested in Prestonsburg, after police say he attacked a woman.

Police were called to Cliffside Apartments around 10 o’clock Monday night by a girl who said her mother was being assaulted. Moments later, Mark Reed, 41, of West Liberty, called 911 to tell them he was outside of the apartment and that he was the one who was attacked.

When police arrived, one officer stayed outside with Reed, while another went inside to check on the woman, who was found crying with a red face and neck. She told police that Reed grabbed and strangled her, and also head-butted her at one point.

The incident reportedly began after Reed allegedly tried to take some cell phones jointly owned by the couple.

Reed was arrested and charged with assault and strangulation.
