PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — A Johnson County man who allegedly fled from police by using his daughter as a human shield nearly seven years ago has finally been arrested.

Jonathan Morrow, 44, of Nippa, walked into the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office back in May of 2016 to try to obtain an emergency protective order against his wife. Instead, deputies discovered he was wanted for drug trafficking in Tennessee, so they tried to arrest him.

They say Morrow then fled from the station, holding his daughter in front of him to avoid being hit with a taser. Police also say he hit a state police cruiser with his vehicle after he left.

Coincidentally, Morrow was reportedly wearing a shirt reading “#1 Dad” when the incident took place.

Security camera video shows Morrow leaving the sheriff's office while keeping his screaming daughter between himself and a deputy armed with a taser.

Morrow was arrested Friday evening in Paintsville. He has been charged with fleeing police, wanton endangerment, endangering the welfare of a minor, leaving the scene of an accident and other charges.

He is currently being held on a $25,000 cash bond.
