PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — We’re learning more about the allegations against a Floyd County dentist accused of a violent attack, after a grand jury indicted him on Wednesday.

Marty Minix, 56, of East Point, is charged with first-degree assault and strangulation in Floyd Circuit Court.

The indictment accuses him of punching, kicking and choking his girlfriend, as well as beating her with a blunt object.

The assault charge is the most serious, carrying a potential prison sentence of 10-to-20 years.

Minix was arrested by Lexington Police at his Harrodsburg Road office on Monday. Since then, he has been released from jail after posting a $10,000 cash bond.
