LONDON, Ky. — A Pike County businessman has been indicted on a federal conspiracy charge, related to an alleged scheme to evade taxes.

Rex Fought, 64, of Hardy, was indicted in U.S. District Court in London on Thursday. Fought was manager of Catalyst Resources, in Bell County, which was owned by a number of investors, including his wife.

The indictment alleges Fought worked with his mistress and another person to set up a pair of shell companies. He is accused of creating fake financial records for the shell companies to give to investors and lenders to raise funding, then pocketing the money and not reporting it on his taxes.

If convicted, Fought faces up to five years in prison. He is scheduled to appear in court April 8.
