PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man was arrested twice in about six hours, after police received reports that he had passed out in his car on both occasions.

And the second time, his wife went to jail with him.

Just before 6 p.m., Tuesday, callers reported that Joshua Preece, 41, of Kimper, had passed out in his vehicle on U.S. 119 near the intersection with U.S. 23. Before police arrived, he had moved, but he was pulled over minutes later and arrested for DUI.

Jail records indicate he was released at 10:41 p.m. But just after midnight, police found him and his wife, Suzanne Preece, 38, both passed out on U.S. 23 near the Stone Coal intersection.

The police reports note that the vehicle was in drive and running, and only prevented from moving by Joshua Preece’s foot on the brake.

Joshua Preece was once again arrested for DUI, as well as drug possession after police allegedly found a bag of heroin. Suzanne Preece was also arrested and charged with public intoxication.

Both were released from jail just after noon on Wednesday.
