PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pikeville man has been arrested after police say he beat and strangled his wife in front of their children.
Officers were called Friday evening to conduct a welfare check at the Third Street home of 35-year-old Samuel Anderson. When they spoke to the couple, they saw that the wife had a black eye and bruises around her neck.
When speaking with the wife privately, she told the officer that Anderson had held her down by her throat and punched her several times. One of the children also told police he saw Anderson choke the woman.
Anderson now faces a felony charge of strangulation, along with assault, endangering the welfare of a minor and other charges.
