Pikeville Medical Center has recently applied for a certificate of need to expand the amount of NICU beds available. Tondra Blevins, Director of Women & Children’s Services at Pikeville Medical Center, states that the additional eight beds will total to 16 beds in which they can provide more families with care. They have also plan on expanding to a Level 2 Advanced Care allowing them to treat babies born as early as 28 weeks instead of 32 weeks.
