Police arrest 2, search for another following break-ins of flooded homes

GRUNDY, Va. — Two men have been arrested and a third is being sought, following an investigation into thefts from flood-damaged homes.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating burglaries of homes that were abandoned following last summer’s floods at Guesses Creek, in Hurley. That investigation led to the arrests of Brandon Estep, 40, of McCarr, and Nathan Jewell, 27. of Hurley.

Estep has been charged with grand larceny, grand larceny with a firearm, brandishing a firearm, and breaking and entering with a deadly weapon.

Jewell has been charged with two counts of breaking and entering.

Officers in Virginia, Kentucky and West Virginia are also continuing to search for Christopher Harrison, 28, of McCarr, in connection with the case.

Deputies are also continuing to investigate other break-ins at Guesses Creek.
