LOST CREEK, Ky. — No charges have been filed following a shooting in Breathitt County on Sunday.

Kentucky State Police responded to reports of the shooting just before 9 Sunday night at a residence at Lost Creek.

Matthew White, 37, was found with a gunshot wound. He was taken to UK hospital, but his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Officers identified James Henry White, 41, as the shooter.

James White told police he spotted a group of people trying to break into a home, so he got his gun and fired several shots at the group, hitting Matthew White.

The case will be presented to a grand jury once the investigation wraps up.
