A woman is facing a felony charge out of Pike County for allegedly attempting to take pills concealed in her body into the Pike County Detention Center.
According to court documents, Connie A. Prater, 41, of Stopover, was arrested Tuesday evening along with a male subject, Robbie Prater, 39, also of Stopover, on misdemeanor counts of theft and criminal trespassing after allegedly shoplifting at Walmart in Pikeville. Connie Prater was also charged with a felony count of third-degree burglary in the incident.
Upon being booked into the Pike County Detention Center, court documents say, jail officials searched Connie Prater and found her to be in possession of a plastic bag containing eight orange pills. The bag, court documents said, was concealed inside of her body.
Connie Prater was charged with an additional felony count of first-degree promoting contraband, punishable by up to five years in prison. Both she and Robbie Prater remained lodged in the Pike County Detention Center as of this publishing. Both Connie and Robbie Prater were also being held on fugitive warrants out of Virginia.
