Preparing For Flu Season

Last year, an estimated 80-thousand Americans died as a result of the flu. That was the highest death toll from the flu in at least four decades. With one flu related death already reported in Kentucky this year, health care officials are urging everyone to get their flu shot.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone 6 months of age and older to get vaccinated every year. Symptoms of the flu include fever, cough, sore throat, nasal congestion, body aches, headaches, and fatigue.

Officials says simple things like washing your hands, using hand sanitizer, and avoiding crowded public areas can help you reduce the risk of catching the flu.
