PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — One Prestonsburg man was taken to the hospital and another was taken to jail, following a stabbing early Friday morning.

Prestonsburg Police were called to the Stonecrest townhouses just after midnight Friday.
The victim told officers that he had been in an argument with Tyler Dakota Newsome, 31, after telling him that he needed to find another place to stay. After the man went to bed, he said Newsome came into his room and stabbed him in the stomach.
The victim ran from the residence and called police. He was found next to a guardrail when officers arrived and taken to the hospital.
Newsome was also taken to the hospital after complaining of neck pain. He reportedly admitted to police that he stabbed the victim. He told police he left the knife on the kitchen table, but police were unable to locate it.
Newsome has been charged with first-degree assault and evidence tampering. The assault charge is punishable by 10-to-20 years in prison.
The incident remains under investigation by Prestonsburg Police Det. Dennis Hutchinson.
