Dickenson County, VA — Two members of the Dickenson County Sheriff’s Office recently completed Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) basic training. Dickenson County Sheriff Scott Stanley recognized Sergeant Derek Kendrick and Investigator Tim Powers for completing the 7-day intense and specialized training in firearms, team strategies, deployment of gas, hand to hand combat and much more. Both Sgt. Kendrick and Inv. Powers currently serve on the department’s Special Response Team. This team is responsible for high risk search warrants, arrest warrants and other incidents in need of more armor and specialized weapons.
