INEZ, Ky. — A man who reportedly fired a weapon at police officers was killed by return fire Monday night.

The Associated Press reports that two state troopers and a Martin County sheriff’s deputy went to investigate a call of shots being fired near Davella. The officers came under fire when they arrived, and at least one officer returned fire, killing the man.

No officers were injured.

The incident remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police. KSP does not routinely release identifying information about officer-involved shootings until after completing their investigation.
