The Mingo County Sheriff’s office received a check from the office of the West Virginia State Treasure for the amount of $42,343.00. The money was from the auction of seized firearms from dismissed cases over the past 20 years. The firearms were auctioned off by the State Treasure’s office. The money from the check was used to purchase new equipment such as updated duty weapons and patrol rifles for the officers. Officials with the sheriff’s office claim that this is the first time the office has had new patrol riffles.
