PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Letcher County woman who was headed to jail on a shoplifting charge found herself facing much more serious charges, after police found her with nine bags of pills and a large amount of cash.
Crystal Tackett, 43, of Ermine, was arrested Thursday night at Pikeville Walmart, after police say she only scanned some of the items in her cart and attempted to leave without paying for the others. The total value of the alleged stolen items was more than $347.
As she was being booked in jail, she told the officer she had a number of pills, and a strip search revealed nine bags containing 56 pills of different varieties in her underwear. Police also found nearly $4,000 in her purse.
She was then charged with first-degree drug trafficking, in addition to the shoplifting charge.
