PIKEVILLE, Ky. — One week after his sentencing on federal fraud charges, a Pike County man has notified the court of his intention to appeal his conviction.
Back in November, a jury found Eugene Sisco III, 36, guilty of wire fraud and health care fraud.
With the verdict, the jury determined that Sisco improperly billed Medicaid patients at his drug treatment clinics up to $300 a month, despite Medicaid also paying for their treatment. The jury also found that he ordered thousands of unnecessary drug tests.
Last week, Sisco was sentenced to 10 years in prison and ordered to forfeit $3.2 million, as well as pay $5.6 million in restitution.
In a court filing on Tuesday, Sisco’s attorney gave notice of his intention to appeal the verdict and the restitution and forfeiture orders. He is also appealing the judge’s refusal to order a new trial or issue a directed verdict of not guilty.
