A teen passenger died Friday evening from injuries sustained along an off-road trail in the McAndrews area of Pike County.

Kentucky State Police say the 14-year-old juvenile was riding in a 2021 Can-Am Side-by-Side all-terrain vehicle near Pinsonfork Road just before 7 p.m. Friday evening when the single-vehicle accident happened.

Initial investigations say the off-road vehicle overturned with the 14-year-old passenger and the juvenile driver during a collision of some kind. The teen passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office, and the driver was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The accident remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
