PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Two men were taken to jail after leading police on a chase through Pike County early Sunday morning.
A Pikeville Police officer attempted to pull over a pickup truck driven by Walter Moore Jr., 45, of Grethel, for expired tags and running a stop sign as it turned onto Cedar Creek from Cedar Hills Drive. But instead of stopping, the truck sped away through Hurricane Creek before getting stuck in mud on Davis Road.
As the officer approached the vehicle, Moore allegedly continued to try to get free from the mud, so the officer broke the truck’s window and used his taser on both Moore and a passenger, identified as Levi Tackett, 36, of Grethel.
Inside the truck, officers found meth, glass pipes and two guns.
Moore was arrested and charged with fleeing police, wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and several other charges. Tackett was charged with resisting arrest and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Both were lodged in the Pike County jail.
