PINE TOP, Ky. — Two people are dead following a single-vehicle crash Monday in Knott County.

According to Kentucky State Police, Donald Mullins, 55, of Pine Top, was driving along Route 582, when his pickup truck left the road for an unknown reason. The truck hit several trees before overturning.

A passenger in Mullins’s vehicle — Portia Calhoun, 55, of Kite — died at the scene.

Mullins was airlifted to UK hospital, where he died on Tuesday.

No seat belts were in use at the time of the crash.

Kentucky State Police continues to investigate the incident.
