
The Pikeville Lady Panthers protected their home court Monday night, taking down the Paintsville Lady Tigers 3-1 in a hard-fought volleyball match.
Pikeville claimed the win with set scores of 26-16, 20-25, 26-24 and 25-22.
Junior Kyla Lee paced the Lady Panthers on offense, finishing with seven kills and three aces. For the season, Lee has totaled 37 kills, averaging just over one per match. Senior Carly May anchored the defense, posting 12 blocks to go along with her team-leading 94 kills and 36 blocks on the year. Junior Lindy Gearheart kept the offense running smoothly, tallying 32 assists on the night to push her season total to 254.
Paintsville player stats were not available at press time.
The win bumps Pikeville up to 8-4 for the season, while lowering Paintsville to 8-2.
Pikeville will host Johnson Central tonight at 8 p.m., while Paintsville heads to Shelby Valley for a 7:30 p.m. start.
Elsewhere in area volleyball Monday night, Betsy Layne defeated Belfry 3-1, East Ridge swept Martin County 3-0, Johnson Central topped Breathitt County 3-1, Letcher Central downed Harlan County 3-1 and Pike Central swept Phelps 3-0.
