PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — A man who allegedly appeared with a gun on the grounds of South Floyd Elementary has been arrested.
Last Wednesday morning, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office was notified that the man had been seen at the school and ran away. That prompted a school lockdown and manhunt in the area.
The lockdown was soon lifted, but the suspect was not immediately found.
That changed on Saturday, when Louis Wideman, 34, of Frankfort, was arrested by Kentucky State Police.
Wideman has been booked in the Floyd County Detention Center on charges of possession of a weapon on school property, felon in possession of a handgun and fleeing police.
