BIG STONE GAP, Va. — Eleven months ago, Big Stone Gap police officer Michael Chandler was called to conduct a welfare check at a home on Orr Street, only to be shot and killed when he arrived.

Now, his last call has resulted in 19 people being charged in a massive federal drug case.
Court records accuse the 19 defendants, including alleged shooter Michael Donivan White, with selling pounds of meth and other drugs.
The drug activity was centered on two homes on Orr Street, the “red house” which served as a meeting place for selling and using drugs, and the “white house” which was used to distribute drugs. It was at the red house where Officer Chandler was killed.
Those charged in the case include:

- Amanda Nicole Blanton, of Big Stone Gap, Va.
- Charles Ryan Bowman, of Duffield, Va.
- Elicia Amber Burns, of Evarts, Ky.
- Brian Gregory Carroll, of Big Stone Gap, Va.
- Keri Leann Corbin, of Jonesville, Va.
- Hailee Michelle Dietz, of Big Stone Gap, Va.
- Anthony Curtis Steven Holmes, of Duffield, Va.
- Paul Thomas Jones, of Big Stone Gap, Va.
- Timothy Ray Jones, of Duffield, Va.
- James Brian Mullins, of Abingdon, Va.
- Justine Dwayne (“Doughboy”) Skaggs, of Duffield, Va.
- Lucille Renee (“Lucy”) Vanover, of Duffield, Va.
- Misty Lynn Ward, of Big Stone Gap, Va.
- Kacie Lynn Werner, of Duffield, Va.
- Tiny Lue (“Tina”) Westmoreland, of Big Stone Gap, Va.
