INEZ, Ky. — A loud exhaust system helped police make two arrests for drug trafficking.

A Martin County deputy sheriff pulled over a pickup truck on Route 3 around 1:30 Saturday morning for having a loud muffler and no light on the license plate.

As he approached, the deputy spotted the two occupants scurrying around inside the truck. He then saw that the passenger — identified as Kristi Dawn Fletcher, 33, of Inez — was holding something in her hand when he got to the window.

Fletcher told the deputy that the driver — Robert Moore, 36, of Debord — had told her to shove a bunch of bags into her purse after they got pulled over. The bags contained meth, fentanyl and Valium.

Both were arrested and charged with trafficking in meth and fentanyl.
