WHITESBURG, Ky. — Police are investigating after a woman apparently fell to her death Monday in Letcher County.

Kentucky State Police was called just before midnight to a report of an unresponsive woman on Bald Mountain Road, in Whitesburg. When they arrived, they found Patricia Deatherage, 40, of Whitesburg, dead.

Police say the preliminary investigating indicates she fell over an embankment and sustained a fatal injury. Foul play is not suspected.

Deatherage’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and toxicology reports.
