BANNER, Ky. — A Floyd County man who was pulled over for speeding found himself being arrested on drug trafficking charges instead.
Christopher Sword, 47, of Martin, was clocked driving 68 mph on U.S. 23 at Banner Sunday night. He was pulled over and when the officer got to the window, he noticed a bulge in Sword’s pocket that appeared to be a gun, so he had him step out of the car for a pat-down. The officer found a 9 millimeter handgun with a defaced serial number in his pocket, along with a small bag of meth.
A further search turned up nearly 7 grams of meth and 2 grams of fentanyl, along with pills, marijuana and scales. A records search revealed that Sword also had a previous felony conviction.
Sword was arrested and charged with trafficking in meth and fentanyl, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a defaced firearm and other charges.
He is being held on a $25,000 cash bond.
