HAZARD, Ky. — A series of cuts at television stations owned by Gray Media are apparently being felt in Eastern Kentucky, as Hazard TV station WYMT was hit by layoffs.
Reports vary, but multiple media outlets are reporting around a dozen cuts, affecting both on-air personalities and behind-the-scenes workers.
Nationwide, it appears that Gray targeted other small-market stations for similar cuts, which have also included reductions in the number of newscasts.
Gray Media has not confirmed the layoffs or released an official statement about the cuts. The Atlanta-based company operates television stations in 113 markets across the United States.
Mountain Top News has requested comment from WYMT but has not yet heard back.
