Georgia man charged with distributing drugs in Eastern Kentucky

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Georgia man is facing a federal indictment for allegedly distributing meth and fentanyl in several Eastern Kentucky counties.

Dennis Arnold “Dino” Lyons, 35, of Rex, Ga., is charged with two counts of distributing meth, one count of distributing a meth and fentanyl mixture, one count of possession of meth and heroin with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and use of a firearm in connection with a drug crime.

He is accused of distributing twice in Knott County and once in Powell County in November. He was also found to be in possession of more than 500 grams of meth and more than 100 grams of heroin in Perry County on Dec. 13. That arrest also resulted in the discovery of two 9 mm handguns.

Each of the charges carries a variety of potential penalties, but Lyons will face a potential life sentence if convicted of possessing more than 500 grams of meth or using a gun in a drug crime.

Lyons is currently being held in the Kentucky River Regional Jail, in Hazard. He is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Pikeville next month.
