PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Due to unfavorable weather conditions forecast for this weekend, the City of Pikeville has made the decision to postpone its highly anticipated fireworks display and first-ever drone show that was set to take place on Saturday, Dec. 28, at the Hambley Athletic Complex.
The event was scheduled to celebrate two major milestones, the 100th anniversary of Pikeville Medical Center and the 200th anniversary of Pikeville itself.
“While we were excited to bring this special celebration to our community, safety is our top priority, and the forecast was not conducive to holding such a spectacular event,” the city said in a statement released Thursday.
The city says it is working with its partners to determine a new date for the event and will announce it once it is confirmed.
