Agency Receives Grant To Combat Drugs

Logan County, WV — The Logan County Sheriff’s Department applied for funding from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program, commonly known as a JAG Grant. The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program is the primary provider of federal criminal justice funding to States and units of local government. The Logan County Sheriff’s Department received $18,474.00 dollars to combat the drug epidemic plaguing the County. Sheriff Sonya M. Dingess-Porter states, “This funding will give our already strained department another avenue to fight this drug epidemic. One of the best things about this funding is that it is 100% federal monies and no local match is required.” Sheriff Porter also credited Christopher Trent who has been instrumental in helping the Logan County Sheriff’s Department in preparing and applying for grants. Trent has assisted the agency to apply for over $1,000,000.00 in grants in the last 12 months.
