UPDATE: The Amber Alert has now been canceled, after Lela Black was found safe and her father was taken into custody.
PRINCETON, Ky. — An Amber Alert has been issued for a western Kentucky girl who is believed to be with her father, who is wanted for murder.
Lela Black, 5, of Princeton, was last seen with her father on Friday.
On Sunday, police discovered the body of her mother, Kelly Black, in her home. She had been shot in the back of the head. Police have named Lela’s father, Byron Black, 42, as the suspect in Kelly Black’s murder and have issued a warrant for his arrest.
Byron Black is described as 6 feet tall and 180 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. He is known to drive a Chevy Silverado with California tags and paint peeling off of the hood.
Byron Black should not be approached because he is considered to be armed and dangerous. Anyone who spots Byron or Lela Black, or who has information about their whereabouts, should contact 911 immediately.
