
DELBARTON, W.Va. — Funeral arrangements have been announced for a West Virginia state trooper who was killed in the line of duty last week.
Police say Sgt. Cory Maynard, 37, was gunned down when he responded to a report of a shooting at Beech Creek last Friday.
A resident of Charleston, he was a former resident of Turkey Creek, in Pike County. He was a 15-year veteran of West Virginia State Police.
Visitation will take place beginning at noon Wednesday, at Mingo Central High School. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the school.
