BELFRY, Ky. — A Pike County man is facing up to 10 years in prison, after he was arrested for striking another man with his car Sunday night.

Police were initially called to a report of two neighbors — Robert Blankenship Sr. and Ethan Marcum — fighting in the middle of Big Creek Road at Belfry, following a disagreement about the location of a property line. At some point, a car driven by Blankenship’s son, Robert Lee Blankenship Jr., 27, struck Marcum, knocking him down.
The younger Blankenship admitted to police that he hit Marcum, but said it was unintentional and due to the fact that Marcum was throwing rocks at his car.
But Marcum said Blankenship’s car crossed the center line to hit him,. He said after that, he threw a shovel and Blankenship’s car.
Other witnesses corroborated Marcum’s version of events.
Robert Lee Blankenship Jr. was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, a felony punishable by 5-to-10 years in prison. He has since been released from jail on an unsecured $10,000 bond.
