JACKSON, Ky. — A Breathitt County man gave officers a number of stories to choose from, after he was arrested following a chase.
It happened Sunday night, near Canoe. An officer attempted to pull over a pickup truck but it sped away, until it went off the road and crashed into a tree.
One person — identified as 22-year-old Johnny Johnson — jumped out of the truck and ran away. The trooper made sure no one else was in the vehicle before giving chase.
The chase ended at the home of Johnson’s girlfriend, where the trooper saw a broken window and a trail of blood leading inside. He then found Johnson, hiding inside a clothes dryer.
Johnson first tried to report his truck as stolen, then said he had been in it but was only a passenger. He also told the officer that the window was already broken when he arrived.
He was arrested and charged with fleeing police, DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, and numerous traffic violations.
