Coeburn man charged in federal drug case

BIG STONE GAP, Va. — A southwestern Virginia man has been charged with drug and gun crimes in federal court.

Jamie Lynn Johnson, 45, of Coeburn, is charged with conspiracy to distribute meth, distributing meth and felon in possession of a firearm.



According to an affidavit from an ATF agent who investigated the case, authorities arranged six undercover buys from Johnson, during which they obtained various quantities of meth ranging from 3 grams to 2 ounces. They also obtained guns, pills and cocaine during the buys.

Due to Johnson’s extensive criminal history and other factors, a judge ruled on Tuesday that he should be kept in jail pending trial.

Johnson is currently being held in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail at Abingdon.
