Power crews have made substantial progress restoring electricity throughout Eastern Kentucky, but some stubborn outages remain.
As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, about 13,500 customers remain without power in the areas served by Kentucky Power, Big Sandy RECC and Licking Valley RECC. That is down from a high of more than 21,000 a day earlier.
Outages remain high in Johnson County, where 30 percent of homes and businesses, or 3,900 customers, are still without power.
Other problem areas are in Martin County, where 27 percent of homes and businesses are without power, and Lawrence County, 22 percent.
In Pike County, only 369 outages remained at 11 a.m., down from a high of 1,500 on Monday. Floyd County had 588 outages, Magoffin had 816, Letcher County had 98, and Knott County had 72.
